Savoy in Color returns to the cell! Bandleader Ben Cockerham's jazz ensemble performs instrumental jazz tracks offering lush and dissonant harmonies that harken back to the Gil Evans-Miles Davis collaborations of the 1950s & '60s. Cockerham leads the 'small big band' with original material from their 2015 EP Hear Today Then, recorded Live at Zeb's Place in NYC, featuring three horns supported by a rhythm section. Add to the mix Cockerham on piano and Britton Matthews on vibes in a new arrangement of Cole Porter's "Night and Day" and you'll think it's coming from your hi-fi.
