New York City-based pianist Addison Frei (“Fry”) has garnered accolades including first prize in the 2016 UNISA International Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa, the 2015 American Jazz Pianist Competition in Melbourne, Florida, and the 2012 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. His compositions have earned two ASCAP awards and residencies at Ravinia and Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead.
In addition to his debut album, Intentions, Frei has collaborated with bassist Perrin Grace and drummer Matt Young (AMP Trio) to release m(y)our world and Flow. Comprised entirely of original music, the trio’s most recent record highlights vocalist Tahira Clayton and rose to #24 on the national jazz charts. AMP Trio also produced a video series in conjunction with m(y)our world that features the work of director Andy LaViolette (Snarky Puppy).
