She’s the daughter of renown jazz pianist/composer Mal Waldron and credits both parents (her mother, Elaine, being a fine jazz pianist and vocalist) with giving her a solid and varied foundation in jazz.

Mala has enjoyed performing for audiences all over the world including, France, Italy, Japan, China and Russia.

Her recorded works include, “He's My Father,” a duo project with her father and “Lullabye,” her debut CD as a leader & tribute to Godmother, Billie Holiday.  Waldron’s first U.S. release, “Always There,” was voted one of Jazz USA's Top CDs of the year.

Her latest CD, “Deep Resonance,” was launched with a CD Release Party at NYC's Club Bonafide and is already receiving wonderful early reviews.

"When you hear Mala Waldron's soulful voice ... you realize that you are experiencing something very special, for Waldron is not only an accomplished vocalist and songwriter,  but also a fine pianist who hits the keys with great precision, bringing various musical influences into the jazz realm." -- Ernest Barteldes, All About Jazz

"She sings in a silken contralto with a whispering vibrato so apt for the sensuous, soulful songs that she composes ... a perfectly shaded mixture of power and melancholic sensitivity"  -- Jazzdagama.com
