Set in New York City, the play is voyeuristic exploration of love, youth, naivete, and the struggle for finding fulfillment, both in and out of relationships.

This multi-media work infuses Mee’s text with video art, original music, memorable performances, and innovative dance. The resulting vignettes are an eye-popping series embarking upon the complexity of human relationship and life in the city.

In this work, a motley group of medieval village idiots are forced to enact their own Mass, due to the untimely death of their beloved pastor. Though it sounds grim, Fool’s Mass is full of buffoonery and comic audience participation. This, along with choral singing of sacred hymns and chants from the 8th through the 17th centuries, combines to create a work which travels from the ridiculous to the sublime.

For Dzieci’s chamber version of Macbeth, the ensemble has learned all of the lines, of every part, through a process of oral transmission. In our rehearsals, and in production, we do not know who will be playing any given role at any given time. As presented by a traveling family of Gypsies, the hour-long performance creates the impression of a ritual or ceremony. A very dark ceremony. Employing haunting folk songs and chants from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, Theatre Group Dzieci explores (and explodes), the very essence of theatre and storytelling in their one-act rendition of Shakespeare’s classic.
