HOAXOCAUST! is a work of fiction satirizing the actual arguments of Arthur Butz, David Irving, Robert Faurisson, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Every accusation the play presents “against” the Holocaust comes from their literature and interviews.

Barry Levey’s Hoaxocaust! was first seen at 59E59 in a showcase for Prospect Theater Company, and was further developed at The New Group. Other plays produced in New York include All the Way From China, the inagural production of the Mad Dog Theater Company at the Gene Frankel Theatre; Critical Darling at the New Group; and Downeaster Alexa and Yale Law School, both at Ars Nova. Barry’s plays have been finalists for the Heideman Award (Yale Law School), the O’Neill (Citizens of Rome), Hangar Lab (Lunchmeat), and Young Playwrights (Mushroom Chicken and the Women Who Make It). His work has been developed at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Arena Stage, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and the Baldwin New Play Festival at the University of California, San Diego, where Barry received his MFA. Barry is a New Group Artist, Ars Nova Playgroup alumnus, and member of the Dramatists Guild.
