JAZZ TALMUD: WORLD PREMIERE

ft. Jake Marmer (poetry), Frank London (trumpet), and Greg Wall (saxophone/clarinet)

also featuring the AYN SOF ARKESTRA & BIGGER BAND

Jazz Talmud is a poetry and music project filled with Talmudic modes of dialog, spontaneous interpretations, interruptions, arguing, and
the ecstatic/failed attempts at wisdom. The poems mimic Talmudic rhetoric, style and turns of phrase, as they reflect on the
contemporary Jewish experience, jazz, dreams, loneliness and more. The horn players, acting as Talmud’s interpreters Rashi and Tosefot
spontaneously riff on the spoken material and each other’s reaction to it.

This project has been made possible in part through support from the Dorot Foundation

$15 cover/$12 for students
