Thugs and dames and missing persons
Crime never gets old, and these three authors bring their own particular twists to murder and detection and ultimate revelations:
GABRIEL COHEN , author of the Edgar-nominated Red Hook, reads from Neptune Avenue, where a murder in Brighton Beach leads detective Jack Leightner to investigate the murder of a Russian immigrant friend, and coincidentally fall in love with the man’s widow.
MEGAN ABBOTT , whose novel Queenpin won the 2008 Edgar Award, will be reading from her upcoming novel, Bury Me Deep. Based on a true crime during the Great Depression, this tale of tabloid desire starts with a leaky trunk on a passenger train.
JEDEDIAH BERR will read from The Manual of Detection, which the New Yorker called “a strange and haunting dream.” This novel–about a file clerk who must enter the dreams of a murdered man and face a criminal mastermind bent on total control of a slumbering city—takes crime into a new dimension.
