Mary Lee Kortes, with a band of stellar musicians, presents the story and songs of Beulah Rowley, a depression-era singer from the Midwest who rose to regional fame but until now has remained little known to the world at large. Through a wondrous fluke, her story and songs were discovered by this contemporary singer/songwriter who has vowed to keep them alive. And remember, just because she made it all up doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

The Avian Orchestra returns this fall with a new program of music about plants.

 World premieres from Bret Battey, Max Duykers, Peter Flint, and Jonathan Newman as well as arrangements by Michael Gandolfi from his symphony “The Garden of Cosmic Speculation”. The ensemble will be performing against a backdrop of video created by the composers with other collaborators.

Expect an evening of fun, progressive, and approachable new music with something for everyone.
